Hello dear friends and curious readers,
The flurry of making continued throughout the week, as much as possible while I nursed a nasty sinus bug. I’m on the mend now and looking forward to heading down to the studio today to complete several of the compositions waiting for me on the work table.
Here’s a little video tease I posted on instagram last week:
Many of these components are specifically earmarked for workshop samples. Some are simply the result of my own curiosity and some will be assembled into art slated for exhibits and gallery works.

The weather took a dramatic turn and suddenly signs of spring are everywhere. Birds are singing, temps are on the warmer side for the season, the sunlight shining a bit longer each day, and here in the Midwest clocks sprang forward an hour overnight. I’m no fan of this setting clocks up in the spring and back in the fall, but I do love the impact the longer day has on my energy levels. And bonus, the clock in my car will be the correct time again. Ahem.
I’d love to have you join me at one of the workshops I have on the current schedule. If you’re considering registering, I’d encourage you to take that step now. You won’t regret giving yourself the gift of dedicated time learning new techniques and being inspired to connect and collaborate with your art and other artists.
Here’s what’s happening and where:

Art and Assemblage
Studio Joy, Kansas City MO
Date: Fri, May 2 – Sun, May 4, 2025
Art and Assemblage is a comprehensive workshop that will guide you through the process of elevating your artwork, collections, found objects, and salvaged materials into beautiful assemblages and fine artworks. With an emphasis on creating stable attachments and connections between elements and finding the connection in deeper meaning through your work, this one is sure to inspire!
Shaping Place: Mixed Media Sculpture and the Art of Momigami
Hirst Studio, Chicago
Date: Wednesday, August 20 — Saturday, August 23, 2025
Centered around the themes of physical identity and the concept of home as an abstract representation, this class begins with an introduction to both traditional and contemporary methods of hand-kneading paper. Through these techniques, students will create rich textures and visually compelling surfaces that echo the terrain of the body and landscape—symbolizing personal identity and the concept of home.
Once you have an understanding of how far you can push this traditional craft as an artistic explorer, I’ll teach you a number of mixed media techniques to combine and assemble into works of art that you’ll be wildly excited to show in your own home or exhibit.
With four full days in the studio together, plus a Zoom gathering prior to the workshop, to help participants prepare materials and plan for our time together, this one is going to allow me to take you down those creative rabbit holes with me.
Vessel: Exploration of Sculptural Designs in Paper and Mixed Media
Sedona Art Center; Sedona, AZ
Date: Friday, September 26 – Sunday, September 28 2025
Dive into the transformative process of turning paper into stunning sculptural vessels. Participants will have the opportunity to explore innovative techniques to craft three-dimensional forms that embody personal themes, such as the body, a sense of home, or pure abstraction. Experiment with constructing designs both with and without permanent inner armatures, giving you plenty of freedom to shape your own vision.
