I’m excited to share that I’ve been invited to teach a monthlong course online at Catalyst art labs this February.
With a hybrid mix of prerecorded lessons and 4 live online sessions, this course is more than just another workshop. It is a deeper dive into mastering the processes, practices, and techniques being presented while receiving guidance and mentorship as you incorporate what you learn into your own unique designs.
Exploring Textures and Surfaces in Collage Mixed Media
This class is a comprehensive dive into DIY techniques for creating textured surfaces and elements for use in collage and mixed media designs. Whether you find inspiration in the decay of an urban graffitied wall, subtle details on the city street, patterns found in interior design, or weathered walls of an abandoned home, I’ll guide you through the process of translating what you see into evocative, tactile works of art.

Shadow and Light: An expansive approach to the traditional craft of Japanese Momigami.
Explore the interplay of shadow and light in this hands-on workshop that combines the traditional Japanese craft of Momigami with contemporary mixed-media techniques.
Participants will:
Learn to create and apply traditional Momigami paste.
Transform paper through kneading techniques to create textured, versatile materials.
Build a strong project foundation using Momigami-covered frames or supports.
Incorporate stitching, collage, mark-making, and light assemblage elements into their designs.
This workshop meets three Tuesdays in March live online.
