I have a collection of small rocks gathered by my granddaughter on our walks together from when she was small. Such memories. I have some horse chestnuts too for their beautiful color and shine. I highly recommend having Staples bind Wen's books with the coil binding that let's them open flat. Less than $10, I believe.
Really enjoyed meeting Wen and her art! Wen's art is so intriguing. I look forward to watching her videos on youtube. I too collect irons and use them to weigh art down. They are fun to display but are very useful! And some of the old one have rusted - which can created beautiful marks if use on wet papers! Thank you for highlighting such talented artists in Found Object Friday!
Thanks for taking a moment to meet Wen through her Found Objects. She's a super inspiring and talented artist and I was honored that she was willing to revisit the series with me.
I'm really excited about the artists I've got lined up so far. I hope you enjoy (and let me know, if ever you'd like to participate.)
I love the dual purpose of these objects! And yeah, I never would have thought of it. But I promise, I will never look at an iron the same as before now!

Right? I love the form and function--especially that it derives from something once considered Women's Work.
I love her iron collection. Now I will definitely be on the lookout out for these! I have many rocks, too.
Rocks seem to be a Universal love language for artists. I bet you've gathered some good ones on those walks along the beach!
This will be a fun series! Collectors unite!
I am excited to be revisiting the series. Can't wait to share more!
I love Wen's iron collection, so beautiful and how wonderful that she is
doing women's work as an artist and using them towards her creativity and for
practical purposes. I have a large rock collection I use as weights and they work well
since I use a lot of three dimensional objects in my assemblages and the rocks can fit in and around the three D objects to help adhere them.
I agree, Wen's collection and her work are simply wonderful! How have I not looked at my rock collection as potential weights before this?
Also, I don't recall if you already emailed me with interest, but I'd love to feature you Christine. ❤️
Crystal, I hadn't emailed you with interest however, I'd be thrilled to be featured.
