Hello dear friends,

I am starting today’s excerpt with the notes about the writing process that I usually include at the end and sharing exciting news with you all.

Last weekend I received an absolutely incredible gift of attending an online conference for artists and writers that came with the opportunity to win a book contract with the publisher who was hosting the event.

There were breakout sessions that were life changing on a personal level and affirming on the transformation and direction I’ve been sensing in my career as an artist.

I attended a breakout session to practice the book pitch and received enthusiastic encouragement to submit my proposal from the host, who I later learned is the president of the publishing company. I am taking everything I gleaned from the event to heart and returning to my writing with the list of proposal requirements in hand. In that process, I made a change to the working title of the book and added a subtitle, which are reflected in the heading and subheading of today’s post.

This process is not new to me, having been through it with my first book. The submission requires an outline of chapters with an overview of each, a synopsis of the book, and a sample chapter, along with some other things that will require earnest daily writing to have ready before the deadline of November 1st.

From that perspective, I began making morning notes of the points I want to make, how I want the book to flow, how to present it all in an engaging and informative way. Today’s excerpt has been extracted from these notes and may read a bit clunky and incomplete as a result.

I’ll be dedicating much of October to completing the requirements of the proposal and will hopefully have a portion of a complete chapter to share with you at that time.

As always, your feedback and insight is valuable to the process, feel free to leave a comment below.

With gratitude. Crystal Marie
