It happened again this morning, head stuffed full of the tasks of the day, coupled with my anxiety over events outside of my ability to control, and my own personal challenges served to create a log jam of thoughts as tangled as a ball of yarn the cat got ahold of. After staring at the page for what seemed like hours, empty coffee mug in hand, I gave up on anything resembling morning journaling and jumped in the shower. Standing there under the hot stream, I felt my body relax and my mind suddenly released an onslaught of information. Answers I hadn’t previously identified, bursts of inspiration for the artwork that was in process on the studio table, and ideas for how to manage the next years teaching schedule started pouring in.

I’ve also come to learn how fleeting these answers can be, striking with sudden clarity and then, poof! Disappearing as fast as the mist on the bathroom mirror, often sending me streaking across the bedroom looking for my journal to record them before it’s too late.
