Transformation that comes with intentional deeper healing work, does not attempt to hide the scars or evidence of a difficult journey, it elevates it; incorporating each wound, flaw, ragged edge, into the whole. A beautiful tapestry of combat patches earned along the way.
Time, age, wisdom, and experience do not heal all wounds, but bring us to the crossroads of reckoning. Each incremental, barely perceived stand taken against the old behavior patterns and temptation to entrench in bitterness over the hand life dealt, is a victory story. Every utterance of a “No” to the things that are not good, or right, or true becomes a beacon, a clarions call pointing the way.
Each step in the direction of that call increases the longing for more. An imperative for beauty, truth, and authentic connection. Traveling unencumbered by ill fitting expectations and the weight of obligation is not for the confident. Those with such certainty will begin to fall away.
Reaching the summit is not the final destination, but a place of solitude and rest. Taking in our path from this vantage point, we see the beauty of its rough terrain; the hard edges softened with distance. It is here that we gain greater clarity for the road still before us. It is here that we see this transformation of being was never leading away, but always beckoning us home.
