"the same body through which you moved

from womb, to arms,

to heart,

where she carries you still" - beautiful lines that encapsulate the emotion so well.

Crystal, this is so beautiful, thank you! I'm always struck by the way you lean into difficult or painful things with fearless generosity and compassion, and how that kind of truthfulness reveals gifts that simply can't be discovered when things are sugarcoated or minimized. I will be printing out that stunning poem—deeper indeed!🙏

Oh Crystal - how your words touched my heart this AM. Thank you- Mother/daughter relationships truly can be so complicated for sure. Have, by any chance, you read Cheryl Strayed book "Dear Sugar"? Highly recommend it on so many levels and also her books, WILD, BRAVE ENOUGH andTINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS. Sending you many wishes for a happy Mother's Day filled with love, fun and beauty....also wonderful photo of you Vilolet and Mother...

I first saw the movie Wild and then had to run out and get the book-which is based on Cheryl's own complicated relationship with her mother. I don't think I've read Dear Sugar, but the series Tiny Beautiful Things was so wonderful. Sending you love today Sally, for your own mothering heart.

This morning I stood by the window and watched and listened to the birds. And felt it deeply, that I had given myself the gift of pausing to soak that in while in the midst of mothering my grandchild. Those moments stand out.

Just to remember to pause in that moment is such a good thing.
