I’ve cut my Facebook & IG time down to just a couple times a day. I feel I can’t give it up completely because it’s the handhold to the world outside. But I usually only look at posts (most of them at least) by my friends/family, artists I admire, and the art/quilting groups I’m in. It has been si a freeing not to feel I have to look at my phone every time it dings or lights up with a notification. And (I hate to say it) I have distanced myself from Doom-and-gloom, high maintenance, all-about-me people over the last year. My stress level has decreased & my attitude is so much better now that I live in the moment and only look at things that bring me joy. Life is short and I want to cherish the moments that are Now.

Yes, I know there’s lots of bad things out in the world, but I choose when I want to read/hear about them. Usually when my dog ass tired body sits on the couch to rest. It’s nice to be in charge of what you do (& don’t do). Be free, my friend, to create/experiment/play and hopefully the rest will follow. You deserve joy.

I'm so glad to know you count me among those who are not a drain on your time and energy. I so appreciate you Lisa.

I gave up Facebook just over a month ago. I saw something that made me so upset my husband asked me to stop. I realized he was right and I've stopped cold turkey, and I truly do feel better. Now I endlessly scroll IG, but that's a problem for another day.

Tomorrow I am going to tell someone who invited me to put work into a show that I can't. I realized that it was causing me all sorts of stress and unhappiness and I'm having a good time in the studio when I'm just playing and experimenting with no need for an end goal! Sometimes I can reach that state of just being in the present moment and it does feel good.

I hope you can grab a few more peaceful moments soon

I recently said no to a really good opportunity to show my work too. That takes some good amount of listening to your intuitive voice. I’m glad you’re taking care of yourself Mandi!
