It surprises me, that people thought you have lost your way as an artist. First because, I can still see a reflection of you in the newer works and secondly: isn‘t it more that our art changes because we change? I have been thinking about this a lot lately, since I find myself in a similar situation.
It's something of a box that is startling to realize you've been placed in as an artist. I was mostly known to be a collage artist and still encounter people who are overt and subtle in their opinions about my exploring other mediums. We evolve as artists, but I think it is similar to going through a challenging season in life, some would rather hear the victory story and not the messy middle stages of working through it all.
